Mustard Oil Process
- Harvesting Mustard Seeds
We harvest mature mustard seed pods from mustard plants. We ensure that the mustard seeds are fully ripe for the best oil quality.
- Cleaning & Drying
Then we remove any impurities such as dirt, stones or damaged seeds from the harvested mustard seeds. This can be done by hand-sorting or using a sieve. We allow the cleaned mustard seeds to dry naturally to reduce their moisture content. Then we spread them out on a clean, dry surface in a well-ventilated area.
- Grinding
Dried mustard seeds then transferred to a traditional wooden grinder or an ofil expeller machine specifically designed for mustard oil extraction. Then we grind the seeds to obtain a coarse powder.
- Pressing
Then we feed the ground mustard seeds into a wooden press and apply pressure to extract the oil. The wooden press consists of a large wooden beam or lever that is manually operated to crush the seeds and separate the oil. As pressure is applied, the oil is forced out and collected.
- Filtering
Once the oil is extracted, we strain it through a clean muslin cloth or a fine mesh strainer to remove any remaining solid particles or impurities. This will result in a clear, filtered mustard oil.
- Bottling
Finally we pour the settled oil into our glass bottles carefully.
